[BP SY 3-1] Update in management of polypoid GB lesion
Ho Kyoung HWANG
Department of Surgery, Yonsei University College of Medicine, Korea

Lecture : Gallbladder(GB) polypoid lesions can be defined as elevations of GB wall that project into the lumen. GB polyps are commonly found in health screenings and their prevalence is between 0.3 and 9.5%. GB polyps can be divided into pseudopolyps and true GB polyps, with pseudopolyps accounting for about 70%. Because GB polyps are common but GB cancer is rare and the management of incidentally detected GB polyps on radiological examinations is not conclusive, it is often clinically challenge to determine which polyps are likely to be malignant and which patients to undergo cholecystectomy. In 2010, the Korean Association of HBP Surgery established the practical guidelines for management of GB polyps. In this session, we will review the 2010 Korean guideline and discuss updates of the treatment guidelines for GB polyp through recently published literatures.
