Lecture : The incidence of pancreatic cancer in Korea is increasing very rapidly. Annual incidence reached 12.4/100,000 in 2015 and comprised of the 8th most common cancer and account for the 5th most common cause of cancer death. Although postoperative recurrence rate is very high, curative surgical resection followed by postoperative adjuvant management is only way to cure pancreas head cancer.
We performed 626 pancreatectomy for pancreas head ductal adenocarcinoma including 557 pancreaticoduodenectomy and 59 total pancreatectomy from 1995 through 2014 in Samsung Medical Center. With regards to surgical techniques for pancreas head ductaladenocarcinoma, adequate L/N dissection with skeletonization of hepatoduodenal ligament, common hepatic artery L/N dissection and neural plexus dissection of left side of the celiac axis and superior mesenteric artery is considered to be necessary. At this video session, I will show you my way of standard L/N dissection and neural plexus dissection for pancreas head ductal adenocarcinoma in Samsung Medical Center.
